Kaitlyn Howlett

Originally from Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, Kaitlyn is now based in Plymouth, Devon, where she works as a dance and Taiko artist, as well as a producer. She graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2017 with a First-Class Honours Degree in Dance Theatre. During her studies, Kaitlyn trained extensively in contemporary dance techniques, including Contact Improvisation, Cunningham, Release Technique, and Flying Low.
Since then, she has refined and developed her practice, now specializing in teaching adolescent young people. Kaitlyn holds a youth work qualification and leads initiatives grounded in inclusivity, trauma-informed care, mental health awareness, and bystander intervention approaches.
Kaitlyn’s work has taken her internationally, performing in Florence, Italy for the Marked tour, playing Taiko Drumming for Toyota in Dubai, UAE, and performing in Seoul, South Korea at KIADA as part of the Birth of Memory project. She has also produced and worked on both local and national projects, including the International Summer Intensive, Tea Dances with a Twist!, and the Plymouth Respect Festival (2017–present) with Plymouth Dance. Other notable projects include the Traverse Youth Dance Platform (2017–2023), the With Flying Colours project, and the Belong in Plymouth Programme with Connecting Youth.
Kaitlyn has collaborated with a wide range of cultural partners and organizations, including Made by Katie Green – Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400 Project as a Dance Engagement Practitioner, Big Sis CIC, Far Flung, Ivybridge Community School, and the University of Plymouth.
In addition to her artistic work, Kaitlyn is one of the three co-founders of Elements Plymouth: Taiko and Movement, serves as the Company Manager for Richard Chappell Dance, and is the building manager for the Oxford House Creative Hub.
