Rhythm City reaches, develops and brings about positive change for those hardest to reach within the disadvantaged communities of Plymouth. Our work and training programmes steer young people away from crime and towards education and employment using the art of Street Dance.
Created in 2006 by the multi-award winning organisation, Beat-Breakers, the aim was to give aspiring dancers the chance to explore the world of street dance.
In 2009, Rhythm City acquired their own space and opened the first Street Dance studio in the South West.
We have represented Plymouth and England in many prestigious competitions across the UK , including the UDO (United Dance Organisation) British and World Street Dance Championships, with our students bringing home numerous titles and thus, creating champions and rising stars putting Plymouth on the map for Street Dance.
We care deeply about our local community and are proud to be able to offer young people the opportunity to develop qualities such as teamwork, self-confidence, responsibility and discipline. These skills are not just to be used during dance but in everyday life too, and these qualities have helped many of our students move on to some of the finest universities and colleges in the country as well as achieving their dream careers.
In addition to that, Rhythm City has been ranked amongst the top 5 dance studios in the UK for Street Dance for multiple years through the United Dance Organisation (UDO).
